Ocean View Chiropractic offers a wide variety of services to both alleviate pain and elevate function. Chiropractic care is used to relieve the pressure that has been placed on the nervous system caused by subluxations or misalignments of the spine. This nervous system pressure can manifest itself in the form of pain whether in the neck, back, or extremities or dysfunction in the muscles, organs, or nervous system.
Following is a list of the most common services Ocean View Chiropractic has to offer, there are many other services not listed. Patient services vary based on patients’ specific conditions and needs.
Examinations
We offer a complete nervous system examination which includes chiropractic, orthopedic, and neurological testing. We do a full spinal evaluation checking for nervous system interference in the form of subluxations. This evaluation includes checking for decreased reflexes and range of motion and addressing areas of pain or lack of function. We then take the results of these tests and compile them into a patient-friendly, easy to understand report of findings and present it to you.
Nervous System Scans
We offer two different nervous system scans of the full spine. A rolling thermal scan which looks at the relative temperature of the nerves coming off of the spine. The rolling thermal scan shows interference of the nerves that control your organs. The other is a surface EMG scan which measures the electrical activity of your muscles. The more your muscles contract, the more electrical activity will register. This measured amount of muscle spasm or weakness indicates stress to your nervous system caused by subluxations.
Adjustments
A chiropractic adjustment is a procedure in which a trained specialist or chiropractor uses their hands to administer a small controlled impulse to a spinal joint. Chiropractors use these chiropractic adjustments, also known as spinal manipulations, to correct the structural alignment of the spine. The controlled spinal manipulations from a chiropractor improve your body’s physical function by relieving pressure on the nervous system.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep tissue massage is designed to relieve severe tension in the muscles and the connective tissue or fascia. This type of massage focuses on the muscles located below the surface of the top muscles. Deep tissue massage is often recommended for individuals who experience consistent pain, are involved in heavy physical activity, such as athletes, and patients who have sustained a physical injury.
Manual Therapy
Manual therapy is a physical treatment primarily used to treat musculoskeletal pain and disability. It most commonly includes kneading and manipulation of the muscles, joint mobilization, manual lymphatic drainage, and physiotherapy. It is normally done in correlation with massage therapy and is used to strengthen muscles, increase range of motion, and promote circulation.
